A Fun Little Practice to Save Money (That Most Women Don’t Know About… Yet!)

What if I told you there’s a way to save money, flex your confidence muscles, and maybe even have a little fun doing it? 🎯

In this blog post, I’m sharing one of my favorite practices to save money. It's easy, no-stress, and surprisingly addictive. It’s like a financial glow-up for your everyday life — and yes, you can totally do it while lounging in your PJs with your favorite playlist on. 🎶

This isn’t just about shaving a few dollars off a price tag. This is about stepping into your power, making strategic money moves, and feeling like an absolute boss while you do it. 💁‍♀️💸

A Practice to Save Money That's Normal Where I Come From (But Brand New to Some...)

In my little corner of the world, this practice to save money is completely normal. In fact, it’s kind of an art form. And it's all about negotiating prices.

Growing up near Middle Eastern culture, I saw firsthand how negotiation isn’t considered rude or pushy — it’s actually a sign of respect, connection, and engagement. It's like saying, “I see you, and I’m here to interact with you human to human.” There's rhythm to it. A dance. And yes — sometimes even laughter. 💃🫶

My family’s been using price negotiations as a practice to save money for years, without even thinking about it.

But then I saw Claire Wasserman (founder of Ladies Get Paid) mention something similar in her newsletter — and I realized: Oh wow... this might be totally new to many Western women.

And if no one’s ever encouraged you to try this practice to save money? You might never know how empowering — and fun — it can be.

So let’s change that. 😎

Money saving can be fun and empowering

The Magic Practice: Fun-Sized Negotiations

Here’s the deal:

🛍️ Go to Facebook Marketplace, eBay, or any secondhand platform. Look around for something you’d actually want to buy. Doesn’t need to be fancy. Think: a toy for your kid, a funky lamp, a yoga mat you’ve been meaning to grab.

💰 Set a budget. Choose a number you’re actually comfortable spending. This is your “play money” — whether it’s $20 or $100, doesn’t matter. What matters is sticking to it.

🔍 Do a little detective work. Check how much similar items are going for. What’s the average? What’s a fair offer?

✍️ Send a message and make an offer. Yep, that’s it. Just type it out. Something polite but confident. Maybe you say:

“Hey! I love this — would you take $60? I can pick it up today!” Boom.

Now here’s where the magic happens… 🪄

Even if they say no, you’ve just practiced one of the most powerful financial skills out there: negotiating. And you’ve just engaged in a proven practice to save money that builds real-world confidence and financial muscle.

No pressure. No high-stakes. Just a fun experiment that can save you money and build your confidence like crazy. 💪

(Oh, and Claire? She made an offer on some baby gear she found online, and not only did she save a chunk of money — she got that little thrill that comes with knowing your worth and asking for what you want. ✨)

Why This Practice to Save Money Is a Total Game-Changer

Most women don’t grow up being taught to negotiate. We’re taught to be “nice,” “grateful,” or to not “make things awkward.” 🙄

But in reality? Learning to ask for what you want is one of the most powerful things you can do — for your wallet, your career, and your life.

A Fun Practice to Save Money and Build Financial Muscle

And this simple little practice to save money gives you the perfect low-risk way to start.

It sharpens your instincts, builds your courage, and helps you get real comfy with the word “no” (which, by the way, isn’t the end of the world — it’s just part of the process 😉).

Even more importantly, you’re building your negotiation muscle in low-pressure situations — where the stakes are low, but the skills you develop are highly transferable. Think of it like doing mini-reps at the gym so when it’s time to lift heavy — like negotiating a higher salary, pitching a client, or asking for a better deal on a big purchase—you’re already strong, confident, and ready to go. 💪

The biggest mistake I see women making is waiting until they’re sitting across from a boss or buyer to try negotiating for the first time. That’s like stepping into the ring without ever having trained! 😅 This practice to save money helps you work through the nerves, understand how anchoring works, learn to hold firm, and even enjoy the game of it all. Plus, when it’s over — you often end up saving real money. Win-win-win. 🙌
